When I think wallpaper Florence Broadhurst is the first person I think of after William Morris.

(I would really like to see "Unfolding Florence" the documentary film about her life; unfortunately, the torrent has no seeds and none of the video rental places near me seem to have it.)

After her death her designs were sold to Signature Prints and now many of the prints have been carried over to textiles. From what I understand, they are popular choices for drapery and upholstery.

She's well know for using bold colours, but today I'm going to stick to the black and white patterns.

I teased my friendslist with a promise of William Morris today; however, I think Bill is deserving of more time than I have to give at the moment. Stay tuned for that post sometime this weekend.

In the meantime, enjoy "Radiance" by German firm Tapeten Agentur.

Artist Shannon Wright designed this wallpaper in 2006. To the best of my knowledge, it has never actually been used to paper a room; however, I would love it if I were to discover it in the restroom of a small shop or restaurant.

The artist has this to say about it:

This wallpaper depicts exuberantly healthy human urinary tracts. It was inspired by a friend's suggestion: "You should really make art about your hypochondria. You've got a gold mine there."

Moustache & Darling is a hairsalon located in Vancouver, Canada. Their unique wallpaper was custom designed by Julie Mortsad working for ROLLOUT.

The print reminds me of drawings by Marcel Dzama. )
